Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One has three power states and that from its regular standby mode it can start faster than most TVs.

The Xbox One was revealed to the world back in May, and Microsoft has since offered some ambiguous statements concerning the console's always-on or always-listening states, saying that the Kinect sensor would listen for the "Xbox On" command at all times.

Now, as we get closer to the console's launch, Microsoft's Albert Penello has confirmed on Reddit that the Xbox One has three power states – On, Off, and Standby.

While off means it's completely shut down, standby acts as a sort of sleep mode, allowing to quickly start when the "Xbox On" command is detected.

According to the Microsoft executive, the console starts really fast from standby and will turn on before most TVs have completely powered up.
