A spokesperson from Microsoft confirms that the newly announced game DVR features of the Xbox One home console will only be offered to those who are willing to pay the monthly subscription associated with an Xbox Live Gold account.

The information comes from One Hit Pixel, quoted by NeoGAF, and most players have been expecting the announcement for some time.

The new console will allow gamers to record five minutes of gameplay and then easily share them with friends via its new social features.

The OneGuide service, which allows players to quickly see what’s available on TV and on the Xbox Live community, will also be limited to Gold subscribers.

Restricting the number of players that use the new features might backfire when the Xbox One is finally out.

Launch is expected to take place at some point in November.
