Cliff Bleszinski, the former leading developer of Gears of War, says that the recent policy reversal announced by Microsoft when it comes to the Digital Right Management of the Xbox One will have big consequences for the gaming industry.

According to his Twitter feed one of the main results will be the closure of many more development studios who fail to get enough revenue from their releases.

Other companies will compensate by delivering more DLC and microtransactions in order to get more money from their player base.

Bleszinski adds, “You’re going to see digital versions of your favorite games with added “features” and content to lure you to digital over disc based.”

Microsoft says that Xbox One users will be able to lend and trade games without restrictions as long as they apply a day-one patch.
