The development team at Wargaming announces that it is launching a new beta weekend for its upcoming World of Warships, which will take place between January 23 and 25 and will allow gamers to experience aircraft carriers in action for the first time, while also introducing more ships for both American and Japanese players to command in combat.

The new units were historically crucial to almost all naval engagements in the Pacific and players will be able to launch three types of squadrons: fighters, dive bombers and torpedo bombers, each designed to deal with a specific threat.

For the first time, World of Warships players will also be able to create divisions, which allow three players to join the battle and act as a team.

The Japanese navy will now be able to use the Yamato and Nagato battleships, the Mogami cruiser and the Shimakaze destroyer.

All US players now also have access to the Pensacola cruiser, the Fletcher destroyer and the Essex aircraft carrier.

World of Warships has also received a number of updates to crew mechanics and modernizations, all of them designed to improve the overall gameplay experience of World of Warships.

At the moment, it’s unclear when the full version of the title will be launched.
