Activision has announced its financial results for the first quarter of this year and among the boring financial information, there are details that show how the World of Warcraft MMO is still declining, as it has reached a new low of 7.6 million subscribers.

The number reported for December 2013 was 7.8 million players and at one point, the game managed to persuade more than 12 million people to pay a monthly subscription to play.

Blizzard says in an official document that it is not worried about the decline and that it is somehow natural given the general shape of the MMO genre at the moment.

No other title that asks for a monthly payment can claim such a big player base at the moment.

Blizzard and Activision are getting ready to launch a new expansion for the MMO, called Warlords of Draenor, that is designed to introduce an increase for the level cap, more areas to explore and more bosses to battle.

The new content will feature the original home of the Orcs, which was destroyed before the events of the title, and there are also new options for guilds to create their own strongholds and develop them.

Warlords of Draenor should be out before the end of the year.
