The legal department of developer Blizzard has managed to essentially shut down another company that makes bots for World of Warcraft, leading to an improvement of the general atmosphere in the MMO.

Ceiling Fan Software, the company that created Pocket Gnome and Shadow Bot, has received a cease and desist letter and needs to pay reparations worth 7 million dollars (5.25 million Euro).

The bot makers are quoted by Joystiq as saying that, "After more than 2 years of legal battles with Blizzard Entertainment to both pursue our right to operate and our customer's right to play WoW as they choose, we did not prevail in the suit and have been ordered by the United States District Court in California to cease our operations."

Blizzard has a zero tolerance policy towards bots in World of Warcraft.

The MMO has been losing customers in the last few years and the company is believed to be working on a replacement title.
