Dota 2 is set to receive the Shifting Snows update next week, and crafty fans have already managed to find references in the test version of the patch to Winter Wyvern, one of the few remaining heroes that haven't transitioned from Dota 1 to Dota 2.

Valve is delighting tens of millions of fans from around the world with Dota 2, the special multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) experience that's based on the original Dota mod for Warcraft 3.

The game has received a variety of updates over the years, as Valve has not only brought forth new elements to the game but it has also strived to bring in all the heroes from the original Dota experience. After delivering Oracle a few months ago, only a few characters are expected to make their debut.

Now, after seeing a confirmation of the Shifting Snows update for Dota 2 and a test build of the patch for the beta client, fans have started combing through its files.

Via Reddit, they've uncovered visual effects that deal with the core abilities of Winter Wyvern, one of the original Dota 1 heroes that have yet to appear in Dota 2. These effects include the Arctic Burn one, and even featrue the actual name of the hero.

As of yet, Valve isn't commenting on its release plans, but considering the winter theme of the hero, it's quite possible that it might be included in the Shifting Snows update or in February's New Bloom Festival 2015.
