Satoru Iwata, the leader of Nintendo, says that the Wii U has performed worse than expected because his company has not found a way to communicate the unique features of the hardware.

In an interview translated by Kotaku the executive says, “It's difficult to say ‘the Wii U is a system that does such-and-such' in a simple manner, and understanding it takes time.”

He also admits that in the first half of 2013 Nintendo has failed to release high-profile games for the Wii U and that the situation will change later in the year and in early 2014.

The Wii U has only managed to sell 160,000 units in the three month period that ended on June 30.

Nintendo wants to sell 9 million units of the console during the current fiscal year.
