Mario and Zelda could not exist on other platforms

Nintendo believes that the hardware it is creating, including the Wii U home console, is designed to work perfectly with the titles that the company creates.

Charlie Scibetta, a senior director in charge of communications at the company, says this is the main reason why the company continues to create and manufacture hardware instead of moving to a software only structure.

The executive tells ShackNews that, “It’s tuned perfectly for that. When Mario bounces from mushroom to mushroom, it feels so responsive because the software has been tuned especially for that hardware.”

The executive says that new high-definition remake of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD will use the second screen of the Wii U for a variety of gameplay mechanics that would not be possible on any other platforms.
