Nintendo has confirmed that the long awaited Wii U Virtual Console would be released on April 23 in the U.S., and that a great set of classic NES and SNES titles would be available at launch, including Super Mario World, Super Metroid, or Donkey Kong Jr.

The Nintendo Wii U is in dire need of more games, so Nintendo is doing everything it can to keep owners interested in the console.

One such method is through the Wii U Virtual Console, which is set to be released in the U.S. on April 23.

Quite a few interesting games will be launched alongside it, like Super Mario World, F-Zero, Super Metroid, Mega Man 1, Donkey Kong Jr., or Excitebike.

Plenty of other classic NES and SNES titles are going to appear in the Virtual Console, including cult classics like Earthbound, not to mention games made originally for other consoles like GB.

Each game will get its own Miiverse community and the Virtual Consoles games can be paused and resumed using restore points, according to the Nintendo Wii U Facebook page.
