More remakes taken from the franchise might be created in the future

Eiji Aonuma, the leading producer working on the Zelda series at Nintendo, says that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker re-launch for the Wii U took just six months to develop, but required serious commitment from his team.

According to Siliconera, the executive stated that, “Development was still difficult. You had to consider the difference in hardware at the time.”

The biggest problem was a technique called toon shading, but Nintendo also had to deal with issues introduced by the conversion to a widescreen format.

Aonuma says that, despite the issues, he is very happy with the quality of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on the Wii U.

The fact that the conversion was relatively quick might mean that Nintendo will deliver more Zelda remakes in the near future for its current-gen console, which might also serve to boost sales of the hardware.
