A new gameplay video from Techland's upcoming Dying Light casts a new look at what the zombie apocalypse really looks like, in video games at least.

The fresh video shows over 20 minutes of in-game footage, recorded on a PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony.

The game takes place in a fictional city that's under siege after a deadly outbreak turns most of the population into bloodthirsty brutes.

The action is set in the slums, a quarantined area of the metropolis, where you have to complete a series of missions that involve a lot of parkour and melee combat.

The video offers us a glimpse into the first mission of the open-world zombie survival game, showing how to get around the city from the first-person perspective.

The game features day and night cycles, and the zombies become much more violent and scary during the dark hours. If you want to see the difference for yourself, just hit the second video below.

Developer Techland has also announced that the title will be getting three downloadable expansion packs next year, bundled together neatly in a Season Pass.

Dying Light is coming out on January 27 in North America, January 28 in Australia and New Zealand, and January 30 in Europe and Asia. The game is headed to the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
