Some people claim that Dark Souls' main draw is that punishing arcade-level of difficulty that makes it supremely satisfying when you finally manage to overcome a certain challenge after having failed it time and time again.

Other people call those first people masochists and prefer to play games that actually have a decent control scheme and don't have massive wind-up times for animations, and have a story that goes beyond being all mysterious for no good reason.

Whichever party you belong to, the truth of the matter remains that being good at Dark Souls is no easy task, and being really good at playing the game is an enviable feat.

In case you think yourself a valiant hero, then think again, as From Software's hack-and-slash game has just got a new champion, in the form of Kahmul78.

The insanely skillful player managed to set a new Dark Souls speed record at 49:55, being the first in the world to break the 50 minute mark.

Furthermore, Khamul78 intends to make another run soon, where he expects to be able to further slash down the timer by as much as half a minute.

You can see him in action in the Twich video below.
