The action-adventure game is coming this October

Yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled the next installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise , AC: Syndicate, and it showed quite a bit of gameplay footage.

The announcement video is quite long, so if you're only interested in the juicy bits, namely the gameplay, the publisher went through the effort of putting all the footage together for your convenience.

The game takes places in Victorian-era London, at the peak of the industrial evolution, and has a definite Gangs of New York feel to it. It stars two assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye, setting out to build an underground gang and secure their piece of the city.

However, their end goal isn't as nefarious as one might initially think. They want to fight for the people, to make sure that a part of the profit resulting from the industrial revolution ends up in the hands of those toiling day and night to make it happen.

The video below shows around nine minutes of actual gameplay, captured in the pre-alpha version of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, as the sticker notes. It's a pretty advanced pre-alpha by any standards, but the company is probably trying to shield itself from the criticism it got with Assassin's Creed Unity, and especially Watch Dogs.

The game is coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles on October 23, and to PC sometime this fall.
