Techland has recently announced that its upcoming open-world first-person Mario game with zombies, Dying Light, is coming out a little earlier than expected.

Having the game a bit early still means having to wait until the end of January, however, so until then we might as well watch some gameplay footage and get excited. YouTube channel GamesHQMedia has provided a neat 7-minute video showcasing some of the exciting features of the upcoming video game, so hit the vid below.

Dying Light comes from the makers of Dead Island, who are using their expertise in order to offer a much more in-depth zombie survival experience, with the game looking like a mashup of Mirror's Edge, Assassin's Creed and Dead Rising 3 so far.

The game focuses on a lot of melee action with a variety of different weapons, and brings a lot of freerunning mechanics and jumping around across rooftopts, including using zombies as Shaolin training poles.

The studio is also working on a first-person action-role playing game, full of spells and mystical enemies to take down, with both single as well as multiplayer planned, expected to drop sometime in 2015 for current-gen consoles and PC.

Dying Light is scheduled to come out on January 27 in North America, January 28 in Australasia, and January 30 everywhere else.
