GameStop has confirmed that a software error has caused it to start notifying customers of the cancelation of Watch Dogs on the Wii U platform.

Watch Dogs was set to debut last November on a variety of platforms but was delayed at the last minute so that Ubisoft can continue polishing the game and deliver a quality experience.

The title will debut for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One, but yesterday GameStop in Italy and the U.S. started notifying customers who pre-ordered Watch Dogs on the Wii U that the title had been cancelled.

Now, it seems that GameStop has confirmed to Kotaku that the cancellation was due to a software error on its part, and that Watch Dogs is still set to debut across all of its announced platforms this year.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft still hasn't given it a release date.
