If you have ever wondered how the complex gameplay of a modern title such as Watch Dogs of Grand Theft Auto 5 would translate into an 8-bit setting, lo and behold, for an industrious YouTuber has got you covered.

YouTube user MajamiHiroz has recreated the open-world sandbox adventure title Watch Dogs as it would have been delivered back in 1989, on the Commodore 64 computer, complete with sound effects and music and, most importantly, the feature-rich gameplay we have come to expect from our games.

It's the perfect thing to watch while waiting for Watch Dogs to download and install, a retro, low-tech rendition of a pixelated Aiden Pearce taking on a mission and zeroing in on his target, complete with phone-hacking stop lights and everything else you would expect to do in Ubisoft's latest creation.

The content creator also has some other Commodore 64 Fakeplay videos, showing what could have been if the likes of Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto or L.A. Noir graced us with their presence 25 years ago.

Watch Dogs is available now on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and it will also become available on the Nintendo Wii U, sometime later this year.
