A brand new mod made for the PC version of Watch Dogs that apparently unlocks some of the locked visual effects in the game used by the original E3 2012 demo of the game, including new car headlights and much more, has surfaced online.

Watch Dogs appeared last month and for quite a few months there have been plenty of rumors concerning a graphics downgrade made by Ubisoft after the absolutely stellar E3 2012 demo of the game.

The studio blamed this perceived downgrade on the fact that the PC edition was shown at E3 2012, while afterwards only the PS4 version received official gameplay videos, which had a visual quality equivalent to High on PC. PC owners can even push the quality to Ultra, provided they have powerful components.

Now, however, a Guru3D forum member has apparently uncovered graphics files and settings in the PC version of Watch Dogs that enable most of the E3 2012 visual effects, from better headlights to increased rain and NPC density, bloom, lens flare, and much more.

An early mod that enables some of these settings has been revealed and you can download it right now from Softpedia.

Bear in mind that this is still an early version of the mod and some tweaks are needed. What's more, while some PC owners report that it removes the stuttering they experienced in the regular version of the game, others are saying that it impacts their framerate.

Even so, you can check out some glorious screenshots below, via Guru3D and NeoGAF.
