Developer inXile says that it is using a tracking camera for the upcoming Wasteland 2 in order to make sure that the player character and his companions are in focus all the time and that the gamer constantly knows if he is in danger or in a new area.

The team explains, “You can also override the “auto-follow” by using the arrow or WASD keys to pan the camera around the map.”

They add, “you will have an option to pan across the map by moving the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen.”

Wasteland 2 also features three levels of zoom, allowing the gamer to use a close-up isometric view of his party, move to a wider one and then zoom out even more in order to go to a more familiar top-down mode.

Wasteland 2 is set to launch during October 2013.
