Video game developer Hammerfall announces that it is now taking orders for a new Collector’s Edition for Warhammer 40,000: Regicide, which contains a special key that will allow those who get it to instantly access the game in its current state.

The bundle also includes a set of high-quality art prints showcasing some iconic characters from the game and apparel created by Stefan Kopinski, who is known for his interest in the fantasy universe and his unique visual take on it.

Warhammer 40,000: Regicide is designed, as the name implies, to mix the classic gameplay of chess with the universe where Space Marines, Orks and other races do battle on a variety of worlds.

The game is designed to introduce a brutal version of the sport, which will feature battlefields that introduce obstacles, powered-up pieces, psychic powers, new strategies, and plenty of lore associated with the Games Workshop universe.

It will be interesting to see whether chess and fantasy warfare can be mixed in an interesting way and if there’s enough variety to keep long-term fans engaged.

Gamers can play the title in single player, against the capable Codex AI, or in Player versus Player matches against other humans.

Warhammer 40,000: Regicide does not yet have an official launch date.
