Video game developer AtomicTorch announces that it is working on a new title called VoidExpanse, which is designed to mix space-based exploration, traditional role-playing game elements and action sequences.

The game takes place in a galaxy where humanity was defeated in battle with aliens, with only a limited number of survivors continuing to fight in the depths of space.

The game will offer plenty of customization options for the gamer’s ships and a lot of choices regarding the exploration of the galaxy and the adventures he can join.

VoidExpanse also delivers alien factions to deal with and skill choices that will alter a player’s strategy in interesting ways.

Combat will take place in real time and gamers will need to be careful when choosing when to do battle and when to avoid a confrontation.

The developer will deliver both a carefully crafted single-player campaign and a sandbox mode with extensive opportunities for modding.

VoidExpanse is set to launch in early 2014.
