Andrew House, the leader of Sony Computer Entertainment, believes that the PlayStation Vita is facing strong competition from mobile gaming devices and that it could actually attract some of the developers who are looking to deliver more interesting experiences.

He tells CVG that he wants the handheld to “be the next platform of opportunity for really good mobile game developers who are looking to expand their creative portfolio into something with more differentiated games interfaces, and we're seeing some success with that.”

Sony is interested in making the Vita a success, but at the moment, the platform is much less popular than its direct rival, the 3DS from Nintendo.

Selling the handheld alongside the PlayStation 4 will also be a good idea and a hardware package that combines them will be offered before Christmas.

The big problem with the Vita is that it has a limited number of available video games, which is where attracting mobile developers might prove to be a good idea.
