Video game developer Valve says that it has big plans for its SteamOS and that it will use the new system to launch movies, television shows and music for the audience.

Anna Sweet, a developer inside the company, is quoted by Gamasutra as saying during the Steam Dev Days that, "We want to add music, movies, and TV to Steam OS before it gets released to consumers."

The press does not have direct access to the event, where Valve is presenting its long-term plans to a number of its partners, but some Twitter messages are offering info from the various presentations.

The SteamOS is currently being developed internally at the company and will be officially launched alongside the haptic controller from Valve and the various versions of the Steam machines in the second half of 2014.
