Jeri Ellsworth, who is the leader of the hardware division at developer Valve, has revealed that her team might be ready to launch public beta stages for some of their devices during next year.

The developer says that Valve is able to manufacture short prototype runs for the devices it is working on and that it might use them to conduct a closed beta stage with people from outside the company.

At the moment the hardware division is already conducting internal beta stages and the results seem to be encouraging.

The designated goal for the new division is to find ways of making Steam-powered games easier to play in the living room environment.

A shot of the Valve offices recently revealed a controller that included a screen, but Jeri Ellsworth told Engadget that, “On any given day you could snap a photo of my office and find a variety of prototypes laying around.”
