Indie studios need to wait for the company to evaluate their games

Valve says that those indie studios that are launching Steam Greenlight projects should not seek to sign up with publishers in the hopes that they would get automatic approval for release.

Doug Lombardi, one of the leader of the company, tells PCGamesN that, “We review Greenlight votes, reviews, and a variety of factors in the Greenlight process.”

He adds, “However our message to indies regarding publishers is do it for your own reasons, but do not split your royalties with a publisher expecting an automatic ‘Yes’ on Greenlight.”

The statements from Valve come after a game called Paranautical Activity was blocked from release after a publishing deal was made by developer Code Avarice and Adult Swim.

Greenlight is an initiative that allows smaller teams to publicize and secure Steam launches for their projects.
