Sucker Punch says many players never played a good level

The development team at Sucker Punch tried to make user-generated content a big part of last year’s InFamous 2, but the company has admitted that the community has not used it to the extent they wanted and the concept might be better suited to other genres.

Sony, the publisher of the game, linked InFamous 2 with the Play Create Share concept, which was also represented by Little Big Planet from Media Molecule and by ModNation Racers.

The idea was for players to build their own game levels and then share them with the community.

Chris Zummerman, who is one of the co-founders of Sucker Punch, told the Game Developers Conference that, “Third-person action adventure might not be the best genre to do user-generated content in.”

Only a minority of gamers tried to create content and most of it was so flawed that those players who tried a bad level usually refused to then move on to another, better one.
