The crowdfunding campaign for Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, the turn-based strategy game imagined as a spiritual successor for Final Fantasy Tactics, has successfully met its goal during its last day.

With funding for the development of the game secured, a feat for which the developers are deeply grateful, legendary designer Yasumi Matsuno and Playdek can utter a sigh of relief and start working on the exciting production.

The project quickly piqued the gaming community’s interest, and justly so. And with the addition of Final Fantasy character designer Akihiko Yoshida, considered one of the greatest video game artists in the industry, things are looking even better.

Yasumi Matsuno is known for his rich and immersive world design, and his masterpiece Final Fantasy Tactics is still viewed as one of the greatest iterations of class based tactical games to date.

The game is already in development for Android and iOS, the two platforms the game was going to be developed for regardless of the outcome of the Kickstarter effort. Now, the game will also be released for Linux, Mac and PC, with the scheduled launch date set for July 2015.
