Richard Garriott, who is best known as the designer of the Ultima series, has announced that he is working on a Facebook video game called Ultimate Collector: Garage Sales, which will allow the player to collect and manage a number of items associated with garage sales.

Richard Garriott spoke about the new game, saying, “It’s been fueled by cable television programs such as American Pickers, Pawn Stars and Storage Wars.”

He added, “By the broadest definition, this is an unregulated multi-billion dollar industry in the real world. Ultimate Collector spans the gamut of that entire activity and is a way for treasure and bargain searching people to transfer that enthusiasm – that passion for the ultimate hunt – into the social network space.”

The developer previously promised that he would not create a game which uses farming or other mechanics that are already present on Facebook.

Ultimate Collector: Garage Sales includes categories like: antique radios, purple stuffed toys, home decor, books, artwork, historical weapons and tools.

There are thousands of items to collect and trade.
