Ubisoft has confirmed through a special email sent to customers that its uPlay database had been hacked through a vulnerability found within one of the company's websites.

Nefarious individuals managed to access usernames, emails, and encrypted passwords. Fortunately, payment info wasn't present on the servers, so that wasn't accessed.

Ubisoft's Uplay service has gone through quite a few problems in recent times, with the most important being an intrusion that allowed Uplay users to access unreleased games.

Now, Ubisoft has confirmed through an email sent to Uplay users that its database had been hacked through one of the company's websites.

Data stolen included usernames and email addresses, as well as encrypted passwords.

Luckily for gamers, Ubisoft didn't store any credit card information, so the cyberattackers couldn't access it.

Users are advised to change their passwords as soon as possible.
