The development team at Ubisoft says that the entire map of Watch Dogs will be open the first time a player launches the game, allowing players to explore all areas and pick up a variety of missions.

Jonathan Morin, the creative director working on the experience, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “You can go anywhere you want. We are not restricting the player.”

The player will still have to assault some special locations in order to upgrade his hacking capabilities and reveal a new slate of actions that he can undertake.

Morin says that, “That unlocks tons of different side activities and events that the system can detect so we can actually go and intervene into them.”

Watch Dogs is set in Chicago in the near future and focuses on themes linked to freedom, surveillance and the power of hacking,.

The game will be out in November on the PC, PlayStation 4, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
