Bad news for gamers anxiously waiting for Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, as the publisher has just announced that the game has been delayed until spring 2014.

The official statement reveals some of the reasons behind its decision to delay the game: “our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.”

The announcement comes less than a month ahead of the confirmed release date and Ubisoft claims that the decision to postpone Watch Dogs came only after “all the pieces of the puzzle” had fallen into place.

It appears that Ubisoft wasn’t content about the quality of the game and decided not to compromise the new IP, thus it came forward with an official announcement stating that it needed “more time to polish and fine tune each detail.” Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
