Kalypso Media has just announced the release date for the highly-anticipated city building game Tropico 5, which will be launched worldwide on May 23, on PC.

Kalypso has also launched a brand new website today, offering a glimpse of what life is on the paradise island of Tropico and making everyone envious of the fantastic standard of living of the tropical nation.

Gamer will be able to view gorgeous images and videos and inspiring speeches from El Presidente, the benevolent leader. Nobody will go hungry, all work receives decent wage and the weather is forever sunny – that is, as long as everyone keeps voting for El Presidente.

The fifth installment in the popular city-building series brings the game to a whole new level, offering players the opportunity to compete or cooperate with their friends in the all-new multiplayer mode supporting up to four players at the same time.

The North American retail release of Tropico will take place on May 27, and the Xbox 360 and Mac versions of the game will become available later on this summer, with the PlayStation 4 version of the strategy title scheduled to follow in autumn.

Kalypso is also working on bringing the game to Steam OS (Linux), and the version will be released with the respective new hardware.
