Video game developer Haemimont Studio and publisher Kalypso Studio announce that their upcoming Tropico 5 will be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, using the unique hardware power and controller of the home console.

Gamers will be able to assume the role of El President during the early colonial times and then try to guide his nation forward while dealing with the needs of the people, the colonial powers that are trying to influence the island while creating a thriving economy.

Tropico 5 will introduce new mechanics for trading, technology evolution, research and island exploration.

Andrew Johnson, managing director at Kalypso Media in the United Kingdom, states, “We are delighted to be able to work with Sony to bring Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 and enter the next generation market. The PlayStation 4 version of Tropico 5 will expand the Tropico brand to the new generation hardware and to a new generation of gamers.”

The game does not yet have a launch window.
