A source inside developer Jagex says that a shift to new technology means that the team now has essentially six months in which to remake Transformers Universe before the game enters the release cycle.

Eurogamer quotes the source, which has spoken out after 13 people were laid off and the company announced a shift in development tools.

Jagex says that the layoffs do not have any effect on Transformers Universe.

It adds, “We have always been committed to developing the highest quality games and services and are confident that this reduction will not adversely impact the game.”

Yesterday, information from Botcon 2013 from the development team narrowed the launch date for the MMO to the fall of this year.

The game will allow players to create their own vehicle-robot mix and fight in gigantic battles that will involve characters from the toyline.
