Train Jam 2014 is a 52-hour long game jam taking place on a train, traveling from Chicago to San Francisco, scheduled for March 13-15.

“Participants will have 52 hours to form teams, conceptualize an idea, and create a game - or stare out a window,” the event is described on the Train Jam webpage.

The unusual event is a way to gather developers heading to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, and get them warmed up prior to the conference. The developers will arrive before the GDC starts, on March 17, in order to have time to set up their booths or visit San Francisco.

Tickets for the event are available up until January 20, a coach class ticket going for $180 / €132. Return trips are not covered by the event organizers, and the event has almost been sold out.

The Train Jam event is orchestrated by Adriel Wallick, a Boston-based indie developer.
