Train Fever might sound like a rather nasty affliction that makes you sweat lumps of coal and cough up ashes and soot, but it's actually a crowdfunded transport sim made in the vein of Railroad Tycoon and Transport Tycoon.

The game challenges you to manage a vast transport empire throughout a period of over 150 years, allowing you to duke it out with the robber barons of the Industrial Age or to take part in fair and square dealings in modern day era.

Train Fever tasks you with establishing a transport company and then hopefully not running it into the ground. You'll have to build infrastructure elements such as railways, bridges, and stations, purchase various vehicles and manage your transportation routes.

Cities will evolve dynamically depending on your actions, and as you fulfill the people's needs as you'll see them grow. The game engine features extensive procedurally generated content, providing an in-depth business and urban simulation that attempts to revive the joy of Transport Tycoon and other such classics in a modernized setting.

Furthermore, the game offers more than 50 vehicles, and building the railways will not be restricted to grids or 45 degree angles, allowing you to spread your networks everywhere, through mountains and across rivers with ease.

Train Fever is coming out tomorrow, September 4, on Steam for Windows PC, Mac and Linux.
