Developer Matt Makes Games Inc. has announced that the retro competitive arena title TowerFall Ascension will be launching on the PlayStation 4 on March 11.

TowerFall Ascension is a 4-player archery combat 2D platformer, inspired by the classic days of competitive local multiplayer titles.

The indie game brings fast-paced and skill-intensive combat and, apart from the competitive multiplayer mode, it will also feature a cooperative game mode where players will work together fighting waves of enemies.

In the official announcement over on the PlayStation Blog, developer Matt Thorson informed that Ascension will offer an additional 50 Versus arenas to fight in, raising the total to 120, as well as a couple of variants for custom matches and some new and exciting power-ups that can completely change the game mechanics.

TowerFall Ascension is scheduled to launch on March 11 on the PlayStation 4 and PC, in North America. The European PS 4 release date has not yet been set, but the dev said that "it shouldn't be far behind."
