If you're in the market for first-person shooters but are getting progressively tired of Battlefield and Call of Duty, you might want to check out a much smaller and unassuming title that promises to offer a challenging and fresh experience.

While military first-person shooters of today are traditionally expected to offer a scripted rollercoaster ride, shoving you down a pre-determined tunnel and prodding you along, Tower of Guns has none of that and instead opts to offer you a wealth of gameplay opportunities.

If you want to take a break from following a narrative and enjoying a finely tuned and painstakingly crafted single-player experience and instead just want to unload your gun in a variety of different settings and scenarios, this little indie gem might just be what you're looking for.

Tower of Guns blends first-person shooter mechanics with roguelike design, delivering unique, procedurally generated levels, and a wide variety of implements of destruction to make use of.

The shooter also follows the old-school ways of Quake and Unreal, challenging gamers with a brutal level of difficulty, mind-boggling levels full of hazards, and deadly boss battles.

In addition to this, there are countless weapon mods to collect and perks to help you achieve greatness, not to mention a wealth of crazy, non-stop action to enjoy.

The game was initially launched on PC in March this year, and now it's headed to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 home consoles, sometime in 2015. Also, it's on sale right now on Steam.
