The development team at The Creative Assembly is launching a new piece of downloadable content for Total War: Rome II, called Beasts of War, which is designed to offer gamers seven new units to recruit and use on the battlefield.

Players who are willing to pay 2.49 dollars or Euro will be able to unleash new types of warhounds on their enemies, deliver projectiles filled with beehives and snakes or create elite units of cataphract camels and armored Syrian war elephants.

The official announcement offers more information on exactly which factions in Total War: Rome II will get access to the new units.

All of them stand on, at best, shaky historical ground, but they can offer an increase in variety for players who are more interested in the game for the spectacle rather than for the realism.

The Creative Assembly has promised that more patches and DLC will be launched for Total War: Rome II.
