Video game developer The Creative Assembly announces that a beta version of the Assembly Kit suite of tools for Total War: Rome II is at the moment offered to all interested players on the Steam digital distribution service.

The release represents great news for the modding community, which can use the program to create complex new content for the strategy title.

The Assembly Kit for Total War: Rome II allows users to edit the game’s databases and process a variety of data ranging from start positions to unit attributes.

Modders can also use third-party tools to create new unit models and animations and then integrate them with the game.

The Assembly Kit is designed to offer examples for those who are just starting out with modding and all content created can be directly uploaded to the Steam Workshop so that the wider community can download and use it.

The Creative Assembly says that more tools for Total War: Rome II will be offered in the coming months.
