Gamers will have plenty of choices for conquest

The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA are at the moment offering details about the core gameplay mechanics of their upcoming Total War: Attila, but the two companies also want gamers to experience the historical period on which the strategy game is based from a more visceral point of view.

The new Red Horse cinematic trailer is designed to show fans the Sassanid faction and how it might profit from the fact that Western Rome is crumbling and the Eastern half of the empire needs to deal with the incoming barbarian hordes and eventually the Huns themselves.

The powerful state can choose to try and take territory from its weaker neighbors in order to create buffer regions or it can take on the role of defender of civilization.

The Creative Assembly states, “The game itself will contain a number of new features around army management and waging war to bring further depth to this key aspect of the Total War experience. Most notably, players will have to consider the very real risks of keeping their armies in line against mounting losses, disloyal generals and fragmented food supplies.”

Total War: Attila will be offered on the PC on February 15 and gamers who pre-order it will get access to three factions that are precursors to the Vikings.
