The launch of Tomodachi Collection: New Life has pushed up sales of the Nintendo 3DS once again on the Japanese market while also taking the number one position in the software chart.

The 3DS LL version of the device has managed to sell 57,089 units during a seven-day period, which is more than double what it managed during the previous week.

For the period that ended on April 21, the normal DS added another 18,000, while second place once again went to the PlayStation Vita, with sales of 15,011, according to Gematsu.

As the launch of the PlayStation 4 is nearing, the older home console from Sony continues to lose sales on the Japanese market.

Tomodachi Collection: New Life sold 404,858 copies during its first week and another new entry, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 took second place with 87,6612.

The rest of the top ten includes: Seven Dragon 2020 II, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Amnesia Crowd, Card Fight!! Vanguard Ride to Victory!!, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2, Run For Money: Flee From the Strongest Hunters in History, Monster Hunter Frontier G1 Premium Package and New Super Mario Bros. 2.
