After publisher Electronic Arts revealed that Titanfall was set to launch on March 11, an analyst working for Stern Agee speculated that the move was designed to take advantage of the delay of the rival Watch Dogs from Ubisoft.

Arvind Bhatia is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that the company wants to make sure that it takes advantage of the relative lack of big next-gen titles launching during the period.

An official statement from developer Respawn Entertainment clarified that this was not the case.

The statement reads: “March 11th has always been our release date, it has not been changed.”

The launch date reveal was accompanied by the unveiling of a new Collector’s Edition for Titanfall, which includes a figurine, a poster and an official art book.

The title is designed to focus on multiplayer battles that involve story moments and make vertical movement and tactics the main gameplay elements.
