The game may have had at one point a splitscreen mode

Dedicated Titanfall fans have datamined the files included in the game's beta stage and uncovered references to a splitscreen mode in the form of various console commands that are supported by the game.

Titanfall is a multiplayer-only first-person shooter that has no form of local cooperative mode like split-screen, at least not according to developer Respawn Entertainment.

Clever users on Reddit, however, managed to spot quite a few references to a splitscreen mode, in the form of various console commands that showed a tie with a single-player experience.

Unfortunately, not a lot of commands were spotted, so it's possible that Respawn experimented with a splitscreen mode and then dumped it in order to focus on other things, especially since the developer explicitly denied such a feature for the game.

Titanfall launches in March for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
