11 bit Studios announces that it is entering a partnership with War Child, an international charity that aims to protect children from the effects of war, to raise funds via the This War of Mine video game that can be used to lessen the impact of conflict where possible.

The title aims to show the brutality of modern military operations on civilians and allows players to control a group of survivors as they seek to get the goods, the tools and the medicine they need to stay alive in a city that’s under siege.

Grzegorz Miechowski, chief executive officer at 11 bit Studios, states in the official announcement that “This War of Mine is not just a game. It allows people to act their part in a war drama based on day-to-day reality of civilians suffering during armed conflicts, including children. We want to draw attention to the uncomfortable, but important topics that are too often absent from the public discourse. Thanks to the cooperation with War Child, we will be able to reach even more people giving them something to think about, and raise money for the good cause.”

This War of Mine can be a very bleak experience, but it is challenging and manages to show the impact that war can have on the civilian population.

We have a Softpedia Quick View for the title which reveals some of the core mechanics and the very special art style of the game.
