Valerie Bourdeau, a community manager working at Eidos Montreal, says that the development team has dropped all Quick Time Events from the upcoming reboot of Thief.

In an official post, the developer says that, “given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we're not doing it. No quick time.”

She goes on to explain that the number of QTEs in the game was fairly limited to begin with and their elimination had a small impact on the actual game experience.

When the new Thief was first revealed, the Eidos team explained that they were using the mechanic in order to give players a faster way to experience the pressure that Garrett was under.

The reboot will be launched in February of 2014 on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, current-gen consoles and the PC.
