The stealth-based first-person shooter will have highest resolution and framerate possible

The reboot of the Thief franchise will see the return of Garret at the beginning of 2014, on PC and both generations of consoles. A big concern among fans has been whether the gameplay focus will shift to accommodate newcomers to the game.

“The light and dark mechanics, the bow, the arrowheads and so on all have to remain. We also kept the fact that you can complete Thief without knocking anyone out or killing anyone.

“You still have that choice; that is an essential in what makes a Thief game,” Daniel Windfeld-Schmidt, lead level designer for the upcoming Thief game, stated during an interview with GamingBolt.

Eidos Montreal Producer Stephane Roy has previously announced that the game will be locked to 30 frames per second on both next-gen consoles, saying that a high framerate is not a priority for a Thief game and that the team's effort would be better spent elsewhere.

According to the designer, the team is pushing to have the highest resolution and frame rates possible for all platforms, although it is too early to go into specifics.

Thief is scheduled for release for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC, in February 2014.
