Reggie Fils-Aime, who is the president of Nintendo of America, has revealed that the reason why the white version of the 3DS XL is not available in all retail stores in the United States is that gamers simply don’t want to buy it.

Speaking to IGN, the executive said that, “You might see a limited-time offer with a white or silver 3DS XL, or we might colorize it slightly differently.”

He added, “But in terms of an ongoing SKU, the consumer has responded in our marketplace and said that, for a handheld gaming device from Nintendo, that kind of white or silver doesn’t sell nearly as well as blue or red or even pink.”

It seems that the white version of the 3DS XL is very popular on the Japanese market.

Nintendo has managed to increase the sales of the new handheld by cutting its price and by introducing a number of new games for it.
