Peter Molyneux has just announced the name of his next game during the Fun & Serious Game Festival in Bilbao, Spain: The Trail.

Little else is known about the title so far, as the designer is most likely getting ready to make one of his patented showy presentations that get people excited without actually revealing much in terms of actual gameplay.

The reveal was made by Guy Cocker, who tweeted the information earlier. Right now, Molyneux and his indie studio, 22 Cans, are working on Godus, a weird kind of god-game with strong social ties, available on Early Access.

A long time ago, people were very excited when hearing of new projects from Molyneux, one of the makers of the legendary Populous series, which Godus aimed to emulate in a more modern manner. The game's visuals are intriguing, and there is a ton of potential in the game, but unfortunately, the gameplay is still criticized for being lackluster, when it's not downright frustrating, an issue which 22 Cans is working on improving.

Among Molyneux's other notable titles are Black & White, a very interesting concept that failed to measure up to the lofty goals the developers set for themselves, and Fable, another project that sought to challenge the way we approach a certain genre of video games.

Perhaps this time around, Molyneux's ambitious ideas will manage to translate into something more relatable from a gameplay perspective.
