Maxis and EA are apparently taking things out of The Sims 4 to save for DLC

Fans of the massively successful The Sims franchise are outraged over the fact that The Sims 4, the next iteration in the series, will lack basic things such as toddlers and pools, and have created a petition asking developer Maxis and publisher EA to remedy this situation.

The Sims games have developed a really profitable strategy of releasing a base game and then launching all sorts of pricey expansions that add new elements, content, and other mechanics.

With The Sims 4, fans hoped that EA and Maxis would implement more features into the base game and leave out fewer things for paid expansions.

However, that isn't exactly the case, as it seems that The Sims 4 will leave out an important phase in the development of a Sim – the toddler one – as well as some of the more iconic elements from the house building system, like a pool.

"While we recognize that some of you will be disappointed that pools and toddlers won't be available when The Sims 4 Base Game launches in September, you should know that we're building an incredibly strong foundation that is capable of fulfilling every one of your desires in the years to come," the studio said in a recent blog post.

Fans aren't satisfied with this response and have made a petition online, asking Maxis and Electronic Arts to add toddlers and pools into the upcoming game. So far, it has around 3,300 signatures.
